Can Sunscreen Whiten My Skin Too?

My 3 Weeks Using Vicci Double White

If you live in the Southeast Asia region as I do, you already use sunscreen to protect your skin, especially your face, from needless damage from the sun like sunburn, premature aging, and skin aging. You may not know that the same sunscreen also balances your skin tone and keeps it healthy-looking, radiant and youthful. Of course, as an Asian woman, you will also have a skin whitening lotion (or maybe even take a whitening pill) as part of your daily skincare routine. Don’t worry, you are not alone! We all want a porcelain-white complexion that defines Asian beauty.

Imagine my apprehension when I received a bottle of Vicci Double White that claims to be a sunscreen AND a whitening solution. Until now, I’d been using two separate products that do their jobs well enough. The first thing I checked for was its SPF, sun protection factor, which beauty magazines recommend to be no lower than 40 if you’re in Southeast Asia during the summer months. Vicci Double White is SPF 50 Pa+++ so it exceeds my conditions in this regard, it protects against UVA, UVB, and HEV. HEV is a modern problem caused by exposure to blue light from the gadgets we use such as the laptop or smartphone you are reading this review on. Apparently, it breaks down natural collagen in our skin so it causes discolouration and an unhealthy texture. If you use a computer all day like I do then you are exposed to it!

Reading that Double White uses natural ingredients like Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, Olive Oil, and Sunflower Seed Oil is quite reassuring. Finally, it has Glycoin Natural, the so-called “resurrection plant,” that’s supposed to rejuvenate (resurrect, get it?) my skin cells and collagen. It’s the same power ingredient found in Vicci’s anti-ageing product.

As a sunscreen and even a moisturizer, Vicci Double White scores very high for the above. Can it live up to my expectations as a skin whitening treatment? While I’m an adult Asian woman who’s more worried about fighting wrinkles than acne, I still have breakouts occasionally, small pimples here and there that prevent me from having “porcelain-perfect” skin. I am not dark by any means but the uneven skin colour and texture caused by the environment and aging can be improved with some skin lightening.
How much of an impact would Vicci Double White have on my problematic skin?

The first time I used Vicci I immediately noticed how light it felt between my fingers as I applied it on my face. This is very important since the clogging of pores can easily lead to breakouts! Vicci felt even lighter than my body lotion. I use sunscreen daily so I am reassured that if I use it daily, my pores (and face) will be alright.

3 weeks have passed now, and to be honest with you, I didn’t expect to notice anything right away, I was just happy I had a sunscreen that made me feel protected. Then my co-workers began asking me what product I used make my face so much fairer. The first time someone said it, I ran to the ladies’ to see for myself. I did notice some of the fine lines and dark spots around my eyes smoothened and lightened, but I was shocked that my complexion was a lot closer to “porcelain-perfect” than it had been before I started using Vicci.

Anyway, I highly recommend you check Vicci Double White for yourself on their Facebook Page.
